Membership Development is the heartbeat of any Chamber. How do you grow that source of revenue. Or, how do you leverage your strong membership levels to additional revenue for your organization, giving you the ability to fund new, needed programs in your community.
Do you take what you can get when discussing job growth or do you have an aggressive game plan that your business community, political leaders and citizens have bought into and excites them? What is your community doing to improve the school to work product, our kids, preparing them for a better life and giving your companies a new, better hiring pool.
How do you get your chamber and community to work in a common direction? By having a strong roadmap; a plan of attack. We can focus your Board, your elected officials and your business community, all at the same time and in a profitable way.
Murta is a railroad crossing about a mile east of Walnut Ridge, AR, our family's home town. It was a surname of a railroad employee. About 1900 it was a very active community engaged entirely in agriculture. Our family owned land at Murta as well as owning and operating the Murta Gin Company, which stayed operational until the 1980s. Murta Farms is a family-owned operation now in it's fifth generation.
I had over 32 years in Chamber of Commerce Management and Community Development, with over twenty six years in one of the fastest growing communities in America, Northwest Arkansas. The first eight years of my career, however, was in the Mississippi River Delta region in some of the most economically challenged communities in the nation.
I've worked in communities with unemployment rates as high as 27% and as low as 2% during my career. That unique perspective, having led Chambers in the worst and best economic areas, gives a unique perspective that you can use to improve your community or organization, no matter where you're located.
And, just so you know, even though these communities were much different, the issues were the same: job growth, education and transportation.
